Umkirch, July 14, 2010

The new technological developments, such as HDTV, as well as the ever more detailed demonstration also extend the requirements of all assembly sections involved, whether they are about decoration, set installation, make-up or costume.
For a quick insight into the manifold risks and possibilities, Silke Frink from bildschön medien, Jörn Denneborg from Studio Hamburg MCI, Thomas Beuthner the media academy of the German broadcast ARD.ZDF, Fleming Lampi from Kavisio UG and Andreas Gause from Gerriets had cooperated and arranged a workshop in the course of the BTT in Gelsenkirchen.
With lectures, films and material samples in front of a HD camera, practical application examples such as “live make-up” and parallely presentation on HD and SD beamers, attention was drawn to difficulties and differences. This should also help avoid any kind of concern or fear of unsolvable difficulties the participants could face.
Thomas Beuthner from the media academy of the German broadcast ARD.ZDF opened the workshop with a lecture about the technical basics of HDTV, Andreas Gause from Gerriets spoke about the effects upon decoration material and new fields of application resulting thereof. Jörn Denneborg from Studio Hamburg MCI explained the difficulties by means of practical examples from the fields of set installation, and last but not least, Silke Frink from bildschön medien demonstrated the immense challenges as regards of the make-up which especially arise in the area of HDTV.
A very vivid discussion and the possibility of making one’s own experiences and experiments with a variety of materials terminated this workshop, which already seemed to have set sort of a milestone since more events of that kind had already been asked for. Please click to high zoom pictures:
