AVL – Project in South Africa

In March 2011, the Gerriets distributor, AVL Distribution in Johannesburg, has implemented a large project in South Africa called SABC Music Theatre M1. The music theatre, which has been closed for several years, has been completely renovated and equipped making it the most modern music studio and theatre on the African continent. The theater had a re-opening ceremony in late March which was attended by many artists and visitors.

Gerriets supplied, through AVL Distribution, a 28 m long motorized and DMX compatible track system which moves two very large acoustic curtains made from Soundmolton. Each curtain was 14 m wide and 12 m high which is used to vary the acoustics in the theatre. Also, a 8 m x 4,50 m motorized roller screen system was installed.

Many new projects are planned throughout Africa by our distribution partner.
