No matter if we talk about Don Carlos, Cosi fan tutte or Madame Butterfly. An elegant main curtain plays a leading role in each opera.
We are proud to work for famous operas like the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal House in London, the Gran Theatro del Liceo in Barcelona and the Royal Opera House in Madrid. To satisfy this discerning clientele, it needs more than custom manufacturing. Gerriets' experience includes the selection of the optimum fabrics and colors, the difficult search for historical models and for artisans who have an expert command of traditional techniques like embroidery, appliqué and Tromp-l'oeil and are able to execute them on modern materials.
Several artists from different countries worked for more than one year to create the main curtain at the Theatro Real in Madrid. They embroidered the curtain with several thousand crystalbeads, overlayed it with 60 square yards (50 m2) of gold leaf and enhanced the impressive fringe by handpainted embellishments. They created an artistic main curtain worthy to bear the Spanish Royal coat of arms.
