Samara - An extraordinary art curtain

An intricately crafted main curtain now graces the Samara Opera & Ballet Theatre, Russia. Gerriets custom fabricated this opulent bi-part curtain from specially woven Trevira CS velour. While it may not be grand in scale (15 m wide x 10 m high, with 30% fullness), the curtain’s lavish embellishments make it a real eye-catcher.

Extensive areas of the curtain are appliqued with gold GRANAT fabric, which are painted with gold leaf and shaded at the edges to create the illusion of 3-dimensional ornamentation. The curtain is finished with gentle pleating and a 60-cm border edged with fringe (each individual fringe 15 mm diameter) and 18 tassels (each up to 80 cm high). It took 6 months to produce this elaborate art curtain.

The curtain is hung on a Gerriets Joker 95 track system with Trac-Drive motor.
