GERRIETS for the Bouroullec brothers in Paris

Umkirch, 10. July 2013

Centrally located in Paris is the Louvre (French Palais du Louvre), a former French royal palace, which together with the destroyed Palais des Tuileries forms the Parisian city palace. Today the Louvre is home to the Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre), which was the most visited museum in 2012. The large exhibition area makes  it the third largest museum in the world.

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is situated in the north wing of the museum, in which Gerriets was entrusted with a large, temporary tunnel construction for the exhibition of the world-famous brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec (also designers for Vitra).

This highly innovative project contains a 40 m long, 11.50 m high and 9.50 m wide tunnel  made out of white stretch material. It consists of 19 beams constructed from  keder profiles with a diameter of 50 mm which form the supporting structure of the tunnel, each at a distance of 2.25 m. The base and walls of the tunnel are fixed with specially designed adapters. The installation took less than a week.

The exhibition of the Bouroullec brothers, which includes furniture and interior design elements, opened in April and will close 1st September.
