BOOK FAIR 2012 in Frankfurt

Umkirch, 10. December 2012

New Zealand was guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2012. Art and culture of the country formed the heart of the exhibition and Gerriets is proud to have provided the stand equipment for the host country.

The Pavilion was designed by New Zealand's leading architect Andrew Patterson. On behalf of Uniplan Gerriets delivered 12 GAMMALUX front projection screens (approx. size 5.50 m x 5.50 m), finished as parallelograms with a rubber lip all around. The frame structures were made of plug-in keder which were hidden and as a result not seen. Six 2-piece stage curtains made of ASCONA 400 in black were installed to create "walkable-books". VARIO dance floor black/white and a 45 m long, curved-TRUMPF95 track completed the picture.

The New Zealand Pavilion appeared to literally float on water. The resulting island presented itself entirely digitally. Small areas of real books suspended from the ceiling were curtained off in highlighted areas while the centrepiece was formed by the projection surfaces onto which enchanting video installations were projected. These all combined to create a multi-media reading zone. During the book fair more than 300 events, which included readings as well as film and music performances were presented in this very special setting.

The pictures speak for themselves ...
