in Trinidad und Tobago

Umkirch, 02. September 2013

The majestic crimson velour curtain that went up on the 2013 season at Queen's Hall Performing Arts Center in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was fabricated and installed by Gerriets International. Gerriets also supplied and installed the motorised TRUMPF 95 track system that moves the main curtain as needed for each of the dozens of stage productions presented at Queen's Hall every season.

Queen's Hall is a leading venue for performing arts in the Caribbean, providing a hub for vibrant local and national arts and culture and also hosting touring productions from around the world. The Queen's Hall event calendar is booked year-round with an eclectic assortment of short-run productions typically scheduled back to back. The venue's curtain system must be unfailingly reliable, sturdy, and easy to operate. Also, as Queen's Hall is continuously upgrading its facilities to match world-class standards, the main curtain track system must integrate seamlessly with a full complement of state-of-the-art stage equipment.

Gerriets International (GI) has supplied various soft goods and technical equipment to Queen's Hall for the better part of a decade. "GI has a well established understanding of the initiatives we have taken to outfit and operate Queen's Hall at top industry standards," said Curtis Bachan, Technical Coordinator at Queen's Hall.

When the time came to replace the venue's main curtain, Queen's Hall contracted with GI not only to fabricate the new drapery but also to perform an on-site assessment of the existing track system. Based on GI's report, Queen's Hall opted both to replace the system and to have GI make a return visit to supervise the installation, ensuring seamless performance and lengthy lifespan for the new equipment.

The new Gerriets-manufactured TRUMPF 95 track system is 14 m (45 feet) wide, with a Trac-Drive motor system and three programmable stop positions. The new main curtain is made of 580 g/m² (20 ounce) velour in crimson red and measures approximately 15 m (50 feet) wide x 8 m (25 feet) high with 100% fullness.
