Transparency and shadow play in the stage design
Music and dance come together in a passionate homage to Charles Aznavour, an emblematic figure of French chanson and the living memory of a culture. The Compagnie Yeraz, under the direction of Christina Galstian-Agoudjian, presents a show that aims to be a fraternal bridge between cultures.
"Pour toi Aznavour" explores the traces left by the artist that still resonate in hearts and memories. Dance, which is deeply rooted in Armenian culture, becomes a universal language here, blending tradition with a contemporary stage approach. Every movement, every gesture draws on a centuries-old heritage shaped by the stories and legends of its people.
A journey between tradition and modernity
Compagnie Yeraz, founded in Alfortville in 2000, is based on a dual ambition: to preserve this rich heritage while paving the way for original creations. Their unique approach combines great precision of movement with freedom of interpretation, offering a renewed vision of Armenian dance.
Project
The atmosphere of the performance is based on a carefully crafted stage set that plays with light and material effects. A 14 m wide and 9 m high black 6 point Sharkstooth FALSTAFF envelops the stage in a mysterious veil and gives it a unique visual depth.
Sometimes as a projection surface, sometimes as a filter between the dancers and the audience, it enables a play of shadows and transparency that emphasizes the dreamlike dimension of the performance. As an airy material, sharkstooth FALSTAFF accompanies the choreography by suggesting rather than imposing, allowing the audience to travel back and forth between reality and fantasy.
