High Absorption Acoustic Fabrics

Acoustic absorption class: A and B

High Absorption Acoustic Fabrics are textiles that have tested well for absorbing sound within a room. Typically, these fabrics are made into variable acoustic curtains that ring the outside of a performance hall, noisy office space, busy restaurant or any other room where sound reverberation needs to be reduced. Some fabrics such as our ABSORBER CS were developed specifically to absorb sound while others, such as 25 oz. CRESCENT Velour, have been used as drapery for years and are now being recognized for their sound dampening abilities. Most of these fabrics are opaque, but our ABSORBER LIGHT acoustic fabric is translucent and is perfect for large windowed rooms that wish to preserve the sunlit space while reducing echo in the room. These fabrics can be bought by the yard or manufactured into acoustic curtains in our sewing shops around the world.

When looking to vary the acoustics of an auditorium, acoustic curtain systems made of highly absorbent textiles, offer an optimal solution. Large areas can be temporarily designed to be highly absorbent so that reverberation in the room can be reduced with comparatively little effort and price. This leads to improved speech clarity and is particularly recommended for speeches and concerts with electronically amplified music. However, for classical concerts, opera or church music, rooms with significantly longer reverberation times are more desirable. Highly absorbent textiles are often used in opera houses and concert halls to adapt the room to the respective application.
