G-SORBER

The Tunable Space

Mozart Today – Tomorrow Swift

Very Special Edition: @SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

Adjustable Acoustics

Gerriets’ G-SORBER system is an innovative, motorized acoustic roll-up banner system designed to precisely adjust room acoustics to suit different uses. By extending and retracting highly absorbent fabric panels as needed, the reverberation time of a room can be flexibly adjusted—from chamber music and choral singing to electronic music, lectures, conferences, film screenings, and informal events. In this way, acoustics become an active component of spatial flexibility.

Maximum sound absorption performance

G-SORBER features a two-layer panel made of a specially developed, highly absorbent wide-weave fabric. Depending on the installation situation, the highest sound absorption class, Class A, can be achieved. This significantly reduces reverberation and creates a precise, clear sound image that can be adapted to the specific application.

ABSORBER CS – High-Performance Acoustic Fabric for Versatile Applications

The ABSORBER CS fabric used here was developed in close collaboration with musicians, theater consultants, and an acoustic testing institute. The permanently flame-retardant Trevira CS fabric combines high sound absorption values with the requirements of sophisticated architectural applications. The fabric meets fire resistance class B1 according to DIN 4102-1

Seamless integration into the architecture

G-SORBER allows for seamless installation up to 4.40 m wide and 10.00 m in curtain height. The system can be integrated into both walls and ceilings and, when not in use, blends almost invisibly into the architecture. A protective housing can be provided as a placeholder as early as the structural shell phase. This allows the system to be easily retrofitted at a later date without compromising the architectural design. Custom fabric colors and special finishes for the housings are available for individualized design. This allows G-SORBER to be precisely tailored to a project’s color, material, and design concept.

Acoustic Adaptability as Part of the Space Concept

Today, multifunctional cultural and event spaces must accommodate a wide variety of uses. The acoustic requirements can vary just as much as the event format.

G-SORBER harnesses this adaptability both technically and spatially. Depending on the need, the absorption area can be adjusted, thereby modifying the room’s reverberation time. This creates a balanced relationship between spatial sound, speech intelligibility, and acoustic precision for every use. Acoustics are thus not viewed as a static property of the space, but rather as a flexibly controllable component of the architecture.
