It is the moment in which the stage curtain plays the leading role, because a Molton stage fabric can be used in any theatre!

Stage molton for the big performance - stage molton R55 

When stage designers want to buy stage molton, further demands are placed on the stage molton. Because where stage molton is to play the leading role as a curtain or backdrop, it needs special properties. 

Properties of R55 stage molton

  • individually customisable or stage molton by the metre 
  • grammage from 300 vis 325 g/m² 
  • twill weave opaque and minimal light transparency (in the colour stage molton black) 
  • sound absorption for improved acoustics 
  • double-sided napped cotton 
  • wide range of colours, also in individual RAL or Pantone colours
  • Flame-retardant finish in accordance with DIN 4102-B1 which corresponds to the building material class and is intended for use in the event sector and in public facilities. Molton B1 therefore complies with the fire protection regulations set out in the relevant venue regulations. However, if the stage molton made of pure construction wool is cleaned or washed, stored damp or above a room temperature of 30°C, it must be re-impregnated to make it flame-retardant again, as the fire retardant does not migrate into the fabric. Heavy mechanical stress, such as constantly opening and closing the Molton curtain, also counteracts the flame protection.

  • in film and television studios. Molton fabrics in precisely defined colour tones are used here to enable image processing in the chromakey process - also known as green screen.

Decomolton for all creative applications

Decomolton is lighter than stage molton and is usually not opaque. However, it is cheaper than the heavier stage molton.

  • as ceiling and wall panelling in event halls, at trade fairs and concerts 
  • for platform and stage panelling

The requirements for decorative molton are similar to those for stage molton - but there are also differences.

Bolton molton stage fabric for glamorous moments 

The finest of the stage fabrics in our molton shop is the Bolton satin molton.

Molton fabric Calmuc - the individualist among molleton fabrics

Where sound insulation plays a major role, the molton fabric Calmuc is used silently.

  • roughened on both sides
  • flame-retardant in accordance with fire class DIN 4102 B1

WOOLSERGE molton fabric - the sound absorber among molton fabrics

The sound absorption level of this molton fabric has been assessed in accordance with ISO 11654 and corresponds to sound absorption class C-B (WOOLSERGE 500 quality) or C (WOOLSERGE 1000 quality). 

The special properties of the molton fabric WOOLSERGE 

  • has an acoustic certificate in accordance with ISO 11654 αw = 0.70 - 0.85
  • made from 100% wool
  • grammage of 500 or 800 g/m²
  • colour in elegant black (special colours on request)
