WHAT is TREVIRA CS?
TREVIRA CS is a specially developed polyester fibre from Indorama Ventures that is used for the production of high-quality, permanently flame-retardant textiles.
It is used worldwide, primarily in the contract sector. Wherever increased safety requirements apply, for example in hotels, public buildings, hospitals or in the transport sector.
In contrast to conventional fabrics, TREVIRA CS is not based on a subsequent finish, but on an innovative fibre technology in which the permanent flame-retardant properties are already anchored in the material itself.
The result is a textile that optimally combines safety, durability and design.
Comparative burning test - Trevira CS vs. non-flame retardant fabric
WHY is TREVIRA CS so special?
The decisive advantage of TREVIRA CS is its permanent safety: unlike many other textiles, the flame protection is not applied retrospectively, but is an integral part of the fibre. This means that it can neither be washed out nor worn away. Even with intensive use, the protective effect remains completely intact.
In the event of fire, TREVIRA CS textiles exhibit particularly controlled behaviour:
- They are more difficult to ignite
- Flames spread more slowly
- There is no burning dripping
- Smoke development is reduced
These properties make a significant contribution to minimising risks and gaining valuable time in an emergency.
TREVIRA CS also impresses with its
- High durability and long service life
- Easy maintenance and cost-effectiveness
- More sustainable properties thanks to the absence of additional flame retardant chemicals
- Wide variety of colours and designs
TREVIRA CS thus combines safety, functionality and aesthetics at the highest level.
HOW does TREVIRA CS work?
The functional principle of TREVIRA CS is based on a special chemical modification of the polyester fibre:
A phosphorus-based component is firmly integrated into the molecular structure of the fibre during the manufacturing process. This ensures that the material is permanently flame-retardant by nature.
In the event of a fire, this technology works in the following way:
- The formation of flames is inhibited
- The spread of fire is slowed down
- The fibre reacts to heat in a controlled manner without actively continuing to burn
As this property is not located on the surface, but is anchored inside the fibre, it remains permanent - regardless of use, cleaning or ageing.
