INTERVIEW WITH TRAINEES
A look behind the curtain!
To give you an insight into training at Gerriets, Gerriets trainees talk about their experiences during their training period.
1. why did you choose this apprenticeship?
René - Trainee in wholesale and foreign trade with an additional qualification:
What really appeals to me is the apprenticeship itself, two foreign languages in a commercial profession. Kind of cool. Other reasons for me are the close relationship with our daughter in France and the fact that the company is involved in such great projects. A very interesting field of work with very interesting customers.
2. what has been your best experience during your apprenticeship so far?
René - Apprentice in wholesale and foreign trade with additional qualification:
Once I was given the task of driving goods directly to our haulier. So it depended on me that everything would run smoothly. After the goods were delivered on time and I drove back to the company, it was a great feeling. Another time, I was the first employee in dispatch. But a haulier was already at the door and wanted information and accompanying documents. When I was able to handle this independently, it made me proud.
Aaron - Apprentice industrial mechanic:
Assembly at the Franz Keller winery.
3. what are your daily routines in your current department?
Larissa - Trainee in wholesale and foreign trade:
My current department is accounting. My tasks are to carry out the accounting run, collate and stamp invoices and credit notes. I also post invoices, credit notes and PayPal payments and "clear" the credit notes. I also process credit checks and Creditreform information questionnaires.
Robin - Apprentice industrial mechanic:
Operating and setting up CNC lathes and milling machines.
4 Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship at Gerriets?
Elena - Trainee in wholesale and foreign trade with an additional qualification:
Because Gerriets is an internationally respected company and the theatre industry fascinates me. I find the path from a simple offer to a complex curtain, where internal co-operation is very important, particularly impressive.
5. tips for future applicants
Robin - Apprentice industrial mechanic:
Quality before quantity. It's better to work more accurately and precisely than quickly and inaccurately.
René - Trainee in wholesale and foreign trade with an additional qualification:
Internships and trial work can help you in advance to gain a practical insight into the profession of a merchant. If you enjoy organisation, teamwork, telephoning and working on a PC, then this is exactly the right job for you.
