Technical curtain solutions for atmosphere, darkness and sound
With ‘ALIZÉ’, Cirque du Soleil presents a visually and acoustically highly precise show in Berlin, in which light, movement and spatial design play a central dramatic role. The production thrives on stark contrasts, clear lines of sight and the strategic use of darkness – requirements that go far beyond those of traditional theatre spaces and call for bespoke technical solutions.
Gerriets was responsible for the supply and integration of various curtain and track systems, which make a decisive contribution to the show’s spatial impact. The main objective was to reliably darken the stage and auditorium whilst simultaneously enhancing the acoustic effects, all whilst ensuring a high level of operational reliability during daily performances.
- 10 STRATUS systems with widths of up to 4.20 m and heights of approx. 7.80 m, equipped with motorised drives including brakes, slack-cord sensors and double-layered curtains.
- 5 BELT-TRACK systems with a total length of up to 23 m, including curtains and hard-edge frames at the ends of the curtains.
- Various fly-bar systems with a total length of around 60 m.
- In addition, Gerriets supplied around 2,500 running metres of black drapery made from INFINITY BLACK, as well as further black drapery made from BARCELONA. These elements played a central role in completely darkening the room and, at the same time, contributed to the acoustic optimisation of the show.
